This past August, I released my second children’s book, a sequel to Nia’s Wash Day: A Family Tradition, entitled Nate and Papa’s Day Out: A Trip to the Barbershop! This story follows Nate and his father on his first trip to the barbershop.
Here are some behind-the-scenes of the illustration process!
This being the second time working with my amazing illustrator, Julia Listeca, the process was even smoother than the first. Below are two sketches of a spread in which Nate and his father stop by the park on their journey.

We originally started with one page of the park; however, not wanting to have too much text on one page led to this beautiful park spread. Below is the final illustration.

Please check out Nate and Papa’s Day Out: A Trip to the Barbershop on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and your local bookstore. As always, thank you for supporting me as an independent author, and I can’t wait for the next story to come!
